Diving @Manado

Joined a group of diving friends from scubasg.com forum for a trip to Manado from 17-24 September 2011.  Spent 2 nights at Bunaken followed by 5 nights at Lembeh with Two Fish Divers as they have resorts on both Bunaken and Lembeh.  A total of 6 days of diving and did 17 dives.

Departed Singapore on Silkair flight MI274 at 9:25 am on 17 Sep 2011 and arrived Manado at around 1pm.  Met by 2Fish staff and taken to Bunaken in 2 cars after some delay waiting for 2 other quests from Europe who required Visa.  A short boat journey and we were at the resort.  After all the formalities, it was way past 5pm and getting dark so we decided to start our diving the next day.

Sunday 18 Sep 2011, we did 2 morning boat dives before going back to resort for lunch.  After lunch, we did another boat dive before calling it a day.  We decided to do night dive at Lembeh and thus skipped Bunaken night dive.

Dive #1 (Start=0833h, Dur=55min)
This dive was boring.  As I was set up with UWA, only did 2 videos of my buddies swimming around the reef.  Here is 1 of them, with Mel, Jacqi, Jonathan and Leonard.

Dive #2 (Start=1037h, Dur=62min)
Still with my UWA, did some still shots of my buddies this time.  Still just as boring, no large subject or schooling fishes.  There were some macro but I could only watch with my UWA setup.  Some of shots of my dive buddies.

Friday 23 September 2011, our very last day of diving.
Dive #16 – Makawide Pante (Start=0817h, Dur=41min)
This dive was planned to go looking for coleman shrimp at around 30m. Visibilty was very poor and we got separated very early in the dive. I realized I was alone after shooting some Starfish shrimps. Went looking for the rest for a short while but gave up as I was at 31m. Moved up the slope towards the island in the channel. While doing safety stop, met Mel and dive guide Leo. This was the shortest dive for the trip.

#16.1 – Emperor Shrimp

#16.2

#16.3 – Starfish Shrimp

Dive #17 – Nudi Reat Reat I (Start=1029h, Dur=74min)
The last dive of the trip and we intend to make it a good one. We missed the yellow pygmy seahorse yesterday as there was a limit on divers per site and 2 boats were already at the site. As it was at 24m and our second dive of the day, we decided to spilt up and go down in smaller group. Beside the pygmy seahorse, there were many other critters and frogfish seen on this dive. This could be one of the best dive, if not the best for the entire trip.
