Malaysia Drive-away (Day 3 of 4)

Today was spent mainly on shopping at Sungei Wang from late morning till late afternoon before heading down to Malacca.  A minor crash on the North-South highway caused a terrible jam delaying our arrival at Malacca till after 8pm.  After checking into our hotel, we proceeded straight to Jonker Walk to have the infamous Chicken Rice Balls for dinner.  Unfortunately, Restoran Famosa is already cleaning up and closing by the time we get over there.  As it was late, we settle for whatever we can eat along the pasar malam.

#01 – The stage at Jonker Walk where locals sing karaoke to a pack audience every night.

#02 – Tim sum stall at the pasar malan.

#03 – Pipping hot tim sum to whet one’s appetite.

#04 – The ever popular fried carrot cake stall.

#05 – The much talked about of Malacca’s Restoran Famosa chicken rice balls.

#06 – Unfortunately, it was sold out and they were closing when we were there by 8:30pm.

#07 – Look like some kind of pancakes.

#08 – The other end of Jonker Walk, beautifully decorated trishaws were waiting to give customer a ride around the town.

#09 – An auspicious dragon guards this end of Jonker Walk.

#10 – Lok lok vendor @Malacca.

#11 – The iconic water wheel along Sungai Melaka.

#12 – On our way back along Jonker Walk, time to fill our stomachs.  First stop was this popiah stall.

#13 – Passed by this stall selling colourfully decorated lights.

#14 – Another shot of the beautiful lightings.

#15 – Skewered a potato, sliced it into a spiral with that simple hand machine, and then deep fried into crispy chips.

#16 – Having a taste of the crispy chips with spicy toppings.

#17 – How could we resist stopping at this carrot cake stall?

#18 – Drooling while waiting.

#19 – Finally it’s ready.

#20 – Some tim sum for our still growling stomachs.

#21 – Spoiled for choice.  Though looked similar, fillings were different.

#22 – At the end of the road where several hawker stalls were, we had laksa.

#23 – Lastly, washed everything down with a bowl of ice cold chendol.

#24 – Finally, back at our hotel, which is just a stone throw from Jonker Walk, for a much needed rest.
