Komodo Dive Trip (Day 2 of 7) 7 Oct 2012

Woke up time throughout the trip was around 6:45am and the 1st dive of the day was at 7:30am after some light snack and beverage.  Breakfast was after the 1st dive.  Today diving was at Kode Island, south of Rinca island.  As this was in the  south, water was expected to be cold.  Did 3 dives here at Torpedo Alley, Cannibal Rock and Kode Bay.  For the night dive, we sailed northwards to the eastern part of Komodo Island where dive site Pink Beach is.

#1 – Woke up at 6:45am was too late for sunrise.  Another LOB, Indo Siren, was already there.

Trip Dive #2 –  0750h @Torpedo Alley. 59mins, max 18.9m, avg 14.0m and 24C.  It was muck diving and the macro here was quite amazing.

During surface interval between our 1st and 2nd dive today, we went ashore Komodo Island to have a closer look at the legendary Komodo dragons.

#15 – Leaving our LOB to go ashore Komodo Island for some dragons hunting.

#16 – Dive guide, Stanny, for the group I was in.

#17 – The Komodo Dragons approached as our zodiacs moved towards shore.  Guess they already associated human with food.

#18 – Closeup with the gentle giant.

#19 – More dragons came hoping for food.

#20 – Danced with the dragons.

#21 – Time for some sun tanning.

#22 – Dragon shooting frenzy!

#23 – Come, come closer for the cameras.

#24 – Safer on the zodiac.

#25 – One for the album!

#26 – Returning to our boat.

Trip Dive #3 –  1114h @Cannibal Rock. 55mins, max 21.0m, avg 14.3m and 24C.  This was another macro dive.

While on the way northwards to our night dive dive site, took the opportunity to capture the sunset.

Trip Dive #5 –  1913h @Pink Beach. 57mins, max 17.9m, avg 13.7m and 26C.  Pink Beach is on the eastern side of Komodo Island and water here was warmer.
