12 July 2014 – Day 1/8 Safari@Tanzania

Planned by a old friend for almost a year, the day finally came for our 8 days Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Safari.

Left on a Qatar night flight QR939 on 11 July at 2120h for Doha. Then transit from Doha to Nairobi on another Qatar Fight QR1339. Yet another transit from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro, this time on a Kenyan Fight KQ420. Finally, a short 30 minutes private charter flight from Kilimanjaro to Lake Manyara airstrip. A total of 20 hours and 4 flights, we arrived at our destination at local time around noon on 12 July 2014.

Upon arrival at Lake Manyara airstrip, we were met by our local guides on their 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser jeeps and proceeded to Arusha Coffee lodge for buffet lunch, followed by a guided tour of their coffee plantation.

After which, we checked into the Plantation Lodge for our 2 nights stay. While waiting for dinner to be served, we had a guided tour of the compound followed by a walk around its perimeter.

The first day was the lease exciting of all. As the saying, better to start slow and leave the best for last.
